Reception
At the first visit to our office, preliminary diagnostic records, such as digital photographs, are taken of the teeth and facial profile as well as a panoramic x-ray to look for eruption and position of teeth. If you have taken a panoramic x-ray with your family dentist in the last 3 months please let us know and we will obtain it from him/her. You will personally meet with Dr. Aggarwal and address your orthodontic concerns. He will perform a thorough visual examination of your teeth and jaws to determine if there is a need for orthodontic treatment. He will review with you possible treatment options and the cost of treatment.
Dr. Aggarwal and his team welcome questions about your experience. If you choose to proceed with treatment then complete diagnostic records, such as study models (impressions) of the teeth and cephalometric x-ray, are taken to determine the best course of treatment. This information is used to develop a custom treatment plan for you. These records are also helpful in tracking the progress of treatment as the teeth move under orthodontic care. Once the records have been taken, treatment appointments can then be scheduled.
Regular Appointments
The appointment when you get your appliances (braces, expanders, etc) usually takes from 45 to 60 minutes. You will then see us at regular intervals, 1 to 2 months apart, for an adjustment, which takes anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes. Patients are seen by appointment only. We make every effort to be on time for our patients and ask that you extend the same courtesy to us. If you cannot keep an appointment, kindly give us 24 hours notice if possible. Cancel only if it is an emergency.
Payment & Office Policies
Cost
The cost of treatment depends on the severity of the patient's problem. You will be able to discuss fees and payment options before treatment begins. We have payment plans to suit your budget.
In an effort to keep orthodontic fees down while maintaining the highest level of professional care, we have established this financial policy:
- If full payment is made at the onset of treatment, we will offer a discount.
- We also offer a discount for additional family members that begin treatment.
- To fit your individual needs, financial arrangements can be made to extend your payments over a period of months.
- For your convenience, we accept payment by PRE-AUTHORIZED VISA/MASTERCARD and POST-DATED CHEQUES.
Insurance
Before your first visit with us please check with your insurance company to see how much coverage you have for orthodontics. If you have insurance, we will help you to determine the coverage you have available by giving you a Pre-determination form to send to your insurance company. Professional care is provided to you, our patient, and not to an insurance company. Thus, the insurance company is responsible to the patient and the patient is responsible to the orthodontist. It is for this reason we do not bill to your insurance company directly. It is the responsibility of the policyholder to submit to his/her insurance company. This is standard practice for orthodontic offices throughout Canada. However, we will help in every way we can to answer any of your insurance questions.
